Covid-19 is on everyone’s mind, including the board and members of the Edmonton and District Historical Society. In response to the pandemic, we’ve postponed our recent talk “A Mystery from Norway”, which will instead run during the 2020/21 season.
After careful consideration, we have also cancelled John Rowand Night in April. The board passed a motion stating that we will hold our AGM as soon as we can reasonably and safely do so. At the moment we expect it to be in the fall, likely after one of our regularly scheduled events. Keep an eye on the website, speakers series guide, and newsletter for more information. In the meantime, we will post our annual report on our website: https://historicedmonton.ca/about/. If you wish to see the financials, please contact the office and we will get a copy to you.
We are also monitoring the situation as it relates to the Historic Edmonton and Doors Open Festival. The festival is currently scheduled for July 5-12 of this year, but we recognize that we may need to reconsider these plans as the situation evolves. All members who had previously planned to attend EDHS-related public events and other events within or outside the community should continue to proactively look into news related to cancellations and postponements. On behalf of the EDHS Board of Directors, please stay safe and healthy during this difficult time.
