Who was Izena Ross? On December 12, 1921, she made history by being the first woman elected to Edmonton City Council. Over the last century, only 30 women have followed in Izena’s footsteps. The Searching For Izena Project is a grassroots, year-long campaign organized by YWCA Edmonton and Parity YEG to not only tell the unknown story of Izena Ross but of the other female political pioneers who blazed a trail at Edmonton City Hall over the last century.
