Granite Curling Club: Ring, Ring, Ring! The House is Calling!

As Edmonton’s longest running south side curling rink, we know a thing or two about staying connected. Did you know that Lt. Gov. Robert Brett was a patron of our club, granting us long distance telephone the same time the rest of Edmonton got it? Or that the club has an impressive collection of original roster books (old telephone books for members)? Embark on a journey with us as we slide out for an afternoon of learning and laughter. Discover how curling connects and creates community at this exciting history event, brooms in hand and new friends by our sides!
The event features a formal presentation (guided tour), followed by an opportunity for participants to explore the club (self-guided). Historic objects from the club’s collection will be on display, with guests getting the chance to interact with them. Handling guidance will be provided. Photos and videos are encouraged (please share them on our socials)! There will also be a chance to learn about the building history for those that are interested near the end of the afternoon.
This event is open to anyone with an interest in history or sports, with a special emphasis on curling history! Recommended age is 12 and up, although children are welcome to attend. The floor of the venue is concrete: we recommend close-toed, comfortable footwear while onsite. There will be some steps to navigate, especially for those interested in seeing the lounge space on the second floor.
This event is by donation (cash or card). All funds raised will go towards a new roof.
The event has been timed to match the streetcar schedule. Guests may take the streetcar to and from the event (at their own expense: $8/person round trip, cash only). There is also plenty of onsite parking at the curling club.
